Rally Legends

The 70s, 80s and 90s, saw some of the most fearsome, brutal, dangerous and exciting era’s of rallying in history. When Group B was created in 1979, it produced a genre of cars that is still revered today. Brutally powerful and fast, the development of rally cars got to the point where the cars were so dangerous that in 1987 the class was banned. But it has left us with legendary cars such as the Audi Quattro, Lancia Delta S4 and 037, Peugeot 205 and Ford RS200 and driving legends such as Rohl, Mouton, Mikkola and Blomqvist.

Group A then came to the fore and took the World Rally Championship forward until the introduction of the WRC Class in 1997. In the next golden era of the sport, four wheel drive had been mastered and gave rise to the Subaru Impreza, Ford Focus, Peugeot 205 and Mitsubishi Lancer and household names of McCrae, Burns, Sainz and Gronholm.

Our special Rally Legends area at Retro CarFest will feature the sights and sounds of these incredible cars from the golden era of rallying.

The KWIKFIT-MICHELIN Retro Race Track

The Kwikfit-Michelin Track will feature four daily themed shows celebrating the very best of Retro cars. From poster cars that graced bedroom walls, to star cars of the silver screen and of course some of the fastest and most fabulous racers of the decades, all come together to show off what has kept them firmly etched in our hearts!

We had One of Those

Come on, don’t pretend you haven’t done it! Even if you’re not a car person, you’ve looked at a car previously and said something like – ‘We had one of those!’ or ‘My boyfriend drove one just like that!’ or ‘My Dad had one just like that in our garage at home!’ They may not be particularly special, or even rare, but often we see cars from our past and it brings back special memories. Retro CarFest is all about bringing back memories and our line up of ‘Our family had one of those’ aims to achieve exactly that! From family sedans to weekend cars, we’ll have an array of cars from your childhood that’ll bring those memories flooding back!

Poster Perfect

How many of you remember the car posters on your bedroom wall as a kid? If you can’t remember we’ll help you out, because when you get to Retro CarFest you’ll rediscover many bedroom wall poster cars from racing cars, to rally cars and supercars. The Lamborghini Countach or a Porsche 911 Turbo maybe. A Jaguar D-Type or a Martini liveried Lancia Delta Integrale. A Nissan Skyline or a DeLorean. Whatever your favourite was, we’ll try to have it there!

60s, 70s, 80s and 90s Touring Cars

The British Touring Car Championship and many other race series like it elsewhere in the world, gave the man in the street a real racing car he could relate to and shout for! Racing modified family sedans gave rise to the saying Race on Sunday, Sell on Monday. Whilst that may not be too relevant any longer, Touring Car racing gave rise to a hugely populist form of motorsport that created the backbone of national racing and created some of the greatest household names in the sport including Bill McGovern, Andy Rouse, Win Percy, John Cleland, Tim Harvey, Frank Biela and Rickard Rydell…. We will celebrate these great cars and races with a display of Touring cars taking us back to one of the most exciting chapters of national motor racing ever.

60 at 60!

This year the E-Type Jaguar celebrates it’s 60th birthday – and we’ve decided that instead of 60 candles on a cake, we’re going to bring together 60 of the country’s most beautiful E-Types to mark this momentous birthday!

DREAM RIDES WITH SPORTING BEARS

We absolutely love the Sporting Bears. They work tirelessly to give every CarFest visitor the chance to ride in the most exclusive cars at CarFest, and this year they are bringing a pretty special selection to Retro CarFest!
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to take a spin in an immaculate Daimler Dart, a speedy Mustang 66 or a smoking Hot Rod! Be sure to book ahead and get yourself a ride on the track or maybe take a blast around the beautiful roads surrounding Bicester Heritage.
Every ride with the Bears raises money for our Children’s Charities, through our wonderfully generous Festival goers. This hugely exciting experience, has raised over £628k over the past 9 years.
