The ceremonies will be conducted in a blessing circle created in SpaFest and will include elemental blessings of air, fire, water and earth.

Participants can then select to add an additional blessing of their choosing from the following:

HANDFASTING

Handfasting ceremonies involve the tying-together of a couple’s hands or wrists with a cord, ribbon, sash, twine or vines to signify their union. The ritual is highly symbolic and spiritual and will often take place outdoors and have strong connections to nature.

The tradition has its roots in many cultures and ancient civilisations, from the Mayans to the Celts to Vedic Hinduism.

UNITY CANDLE

A Unity Candle Ceremony is when a couple each take a lit candle and simultaneously light what is known as the “unity candle”. This symbolises their joining together as a family, while maintaining their individuality.

UNITY SAND

HThis ceremony integrates two individual lives like the traditional Sand Unity Ceremony. Mixing two lives will combine the couple into a new union. The Sand Unity Ceremony is both symbolism and interactive! The coloured sand will gradually mix to form one unified colour, just like the couple’s lives.

UNITY CUP

The Loving Cup Ritual can be traced back to Saxon times and sees a couple drink from the same cup to celebrate their union. Some couples also opt to combine two drinks in their cup to deepen the symbolism of togetherness. The Loving Cup is a sweet element that will symbolise love, happiness in the present and happiness in the future. But also something bitter, sour or sharp, representing some of the more challenging experiences that you may encounter.

JUMPING THE BROOM

Jumping the Broom is said to be originated from an African tradition. It not only symbolises the sweeping away of evil, past loves and the old you, but it also represents jumping into a new life together and setting up your household. It is traditionally done at the end of the ceremony.

RING WARMING

A Ring Warming Ceremony is an old Irish tradition that originated to infuse wedding rings with love and blessings from all of a couple’s family and friends. By passing the rings through the hands of every guest, the ring receives good wishes from each and every person in attendance. Before the couple even slips on their wedding bands, they’ve already been warmed, ready to welcome them into their new life.
