NEW FOR 2026: Step Inside The Style Studio

This year, RetroFest isn't just something you'll see, it's something you'll wear.

Introducing the Style Studio: a brand-new location where festival-goers become the show. Think rails bursting with vintage fashion treasures, mirrors lit like a backstage dressing rooms, and a team of genuine fashion experts ready to turn you into a full-blown 1970s icon. This isn't a photo booth. It's a transformation.

We've teamed up with the University of Northampton's Fashion Department, their staff and students bringing real design skill and creative flair to every look. Alongside them are two phenomenal women-led businesses leading the charge on sustainable style: The Well Worn and ReVamp Boutique, both proving that the best outfit in the room can come from a rescued rail rather than a shop floor.

And none of it would be possible without the generosity of the charity shops donating rails of pre-loved clothing, every item a nod to the 1970s, every choice a step towards more sustainable fashion.

Here's the drill:

🎤 Walk in as yourself. Get greeted by your host and thrown straight into the 70s.

👕 Raid the rails - punk rebellion, disco glitter, rockstar excess, it's all here, all donated, all ready to be reborn.

Get glamourised at our accessory stations. Boots. Bling. Bell-bottoms. Go big.

📸 Strike your pose for the photo wall and throw your hat in the ring for Best Dressed.

🏆 Walk out a winner - will you be the best dressed at CarFest? There are CarFest 2027 tickets up for grabs.

Punk one day. Studio 54 the next. Rockstar royalty to finish. Whoever you channel - Westwood, Debbie Harry, Freddie, Elton - you'll leave feeling like an absolute legend.

This is RetroFest reimagined, powered by the University of Northampton, The Well Worn, ReVamp Boutique, and the generous charity shops of the local community. Come as you are. Leave as a legend.

University of Northampton

RetroFest's Style Studio is proud to partner with the University of Northampton's School of Art and Design, bringing genuine industry expertise to the heart of the experience. Home to one of the region's leading Fashion, Textiles, Footwear & Accessories programmes, the School equips its students with real design skills, from pattern cutting and textiles to footwear and leather craft, supported by specialist workshops and expert academic staff.

Known for forging live industry partnerships, from designing kit concepts for local football clubs to national fashion competitions, the School's students are no strangers to translating creative ideas into real-world results. For the Style Studio, staff and students will bring that same energy and expertise to CarFest, helping festival-goers rediscover the fashion of 1970s and reimagine pre-loved clothing into brand-new looks.

Leading that expertise is Emmeline Child, Programme Leader for Fashion, Textiles and Footwear at the University of Northampton, and a genuine pioneer in sustainable fashion. Back in 2003, Emmeline developed her own upcycled fashion label, Emmeline 4 Re, born out of a partnership with the Salvation Army Trading Company. Her designs went on to sell in TOPSHOP and independent retailers across the UK and Europe, before she launched her own sustainable boutique in London. Nearly two decades on, Emmeline is now a PhD candidate researching circular design and textile remanufacture with UAL's Centre for Circular Design, and has taught and spoken on sustainability in fashion around the world, from the UK to India and Sri Lanka.

With almost 20 years of experience turning waste into wearable, upcycled fashion, Emmeline's passion for zero-landfill design is exactly what makes the Style Studio tick, a celebration of creativity, sustainability, and giving old clothes a spectacular second life. It's a rare chance to see the next generation of fashion talent, guided by real industry pioneers, right there on the rails, in the mirrors, and behind every transformation.

ReVamp Boutique

X

Founded by Sarah Ashby-Bassett, ReVamp Boutique has spent over a decade turning the unloved into the unmissable. With more than 25 years of design experience behind her, Sarah, alongside husband and creative partner Simon, has built a reputation for taking discarded, damaged, and forgotten items and giving them a brand-new lease of life through upholstery, painting, and hands-on craft skills.

ReVamp Boutique is no stranger to CarFest, having previously brought their upcycling magic to the festival, as well as appearing on ITV, Grand Designs Live, and Westfield's Good Festival London. Sarah's passion doesn't stop at making — she loves teaching others too, running workshops that share ReVamp's secrets and spread the joy (and the environmental benefits) of reusing what already exists.

For RetroFest's Style Studio, Sarah brings that same ReVamp spirit to fashion — proving that with a little creativity, yesterday's cast-offs make tomorrow's showstoppers.

The Well Worn

X

Founded by Emma Shaw, The Well Worn is a UK-based womenswear label built entirely around giving new life to what already exists. The brand makes clothes from vintage and sustainable fabrics, taking the view that signs of repair and wear can enhance a garment rather than diminish it, using techniques like sashiko stitching to mend tears and join fabric pieces together. Everything is made in the UK in limited edition runs, with each piece hand-numbered, a proud, considered alternative to landfill fashion.

Their philosophy is simple: beautiful clothes without compromise. At the heart of it all is a respect for well-made, thoughtfully designed pieces, often inspired by vintage workwear, chore jackets, denim and indigo fabrics, reimagined as what one might call the vintage of the future.

It's exactly the spirit the Style Studio is built on: proving that the most stylish outfit in the room might just be one that's been rescued, repaired, and reborn.
