America, birthplace of the “hot rod”, “rat rod”, “gasser”, “muscle car”, “pony car” and the “low rider”. Where the pickup truck is king and there’s no replacement for displacement. Feast your eyes and ears on a selection of fabulous builds and finds from the good ‘ol USA.
Classic cars come in all shapes and sizes, but two words define their owners – ambition and passion. These owners have the drive and desire to preserve and restore the extraordinary and the ordinary alike, for future generations to appreciate and enjoy. And we love them!
Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Porsche and more. Supercars are bedroom-wall poster cars made real, in carbon, titanium, aluminium and steel. These British, German and Italian supercars compete for your attention with British and Japanese marvels on Michelin-Protyre Autocare Track and Paddock. The super-models of the car world strutting their stuff, just for you.
Have you ever wondered what the older-exotic alternative to your new family transport might be? We have! So, we have gathered a few examples of sensible family cars and paired them with some exotics you could buy for the same outlay. We’re not saying it’s a sensible plan - but it’s great to dream!
Taking the very best elements of the classic car aesthetic and incorporating modern thinking and technology to sympathetically update them for modern use. The perfect combination of timeless form with modern functionality, RestoMods are examples of what anyone can achieve with some imagination, patience and a sometimes-significant budget.
As we consider turning to Electric Vehicles for our family’s next transport option CarFest proudly presents a selection of ground-breaking, unusual, classic and outrageous examples from the world of electric alternatives.
CarFest’s Track Stars are built to maximise every possible advantage afforded by race circuits. Stripped down, souped up, track-focused beasts including open-wheelers like classic Formula 1, Indy Cars and sprint cars; classic and current GT Class endurance racers, British Touring Cars and single-make series race carsand track-day weapons.
Dune Buggies - the plastic-fantastic icons of the 60s and 70s, nothing says “summertime” or “California” quite like the original Bruce Meyers designed Meyers Manx or the vast range of tributes, re-creations and copies it spawned. Watch these Beach Boys and California Girls soaking up the Good Vibrations and having some Fun, Fun, Fun on the Michelin-Protyre Autocare Track and in the Paddock. The humble VW Beetle never looked so good!
Legend has it that the fact that a city block and adrag strip both measure a ¼ mileisn’t just a coincidence.Born on thestreets butperfected on thestrip, Drag Racingis one of themost simple, spectacular andloud-and-proudforms of auto-racing – theprinciple issimple, accelerate fromstandstill down ameasured ¼ milestraight in theshortest timepossible. CarFestis once againproud to presenta selection ofoutrageous dragracers on Trackand on display, bring yourearplugs becausethings are goingto get LOUD.
Over the years the “blue oval” has brought us some very fast Fords. From Mexico and RS, Cosworth and ST to Shelby and GT these fabulous vehicles evoke memories of youthful desire, aspiration, admiration and sky-high insurance premiums. Join us in celebrating these Fast Fords.
If your idea of motorsport fun includes tortured tyres, billowing smoke and roaring engines then we’ve got a treat for you! The Michelin-Protyre Autocare Track Show once again proudly presents the slideways artistry of our favourite drift machines, the super-sized shenanigans of outrageous NASCARS and some classic Jaguar tyre-shredding.
While the Track Stars need smooth tarmac and lots of safe run-off to perform at their peak, these rally-stage heroes simply don’t care! Featuring cars so advanced, untethered and unhinged that they prompted the FIA to ban Group B altogether these Stage Stars will surely ignite a passion for power.
Just because we’re growing old doesn’t mean we have to grow up! Do you have a hankering for supercar performance but need enough seats for the entire family? CarFest has you covered, with a wild selection of super-SUVs and fast family haulers to either blend-in or stand out on the school run and still get the whole brood, bikes and luggage across the country in double-quick time!
Get up close and personal with the stars of our track shows. This is where you can see these incredible engines at rest - from lovingly preserved Model T Fords and classic Bentleys to the latest Aston Martin supercars. Discover stunning restored Porsches alongside wild hot rods from the USA, or marvel at weird and wacky inventions. Mike Bushell is the longest-serving sports presenter on BBC One's flagship morning show, BBC Breakfast, where he has been a fixture for over 22 years. During his tenure, he has showcased and personally tried more than 550 different sports to inspire viewers to take up new hobbies and activities, setting a world record in the process. His diverse experiences range from quidditch, kin ball, and penny farthing polo to various motorsports including hovercraft racing, wing walking, sidecar racing, Formula One, Formula E, and rallying, reflecting his deep passion for motorsports. This makes him an ideal participant in our track cavalcade at CarFest.
In addition to his broadcasting career, Mike showcased his dance skills on Strictly Come Dancing in 2019, finishing 7th with partner Katya Jones. So, keep an eye out for some “dancing” swivels as the music kicks off here at CarFest.
Mike is also an avid runner, having completed a 180-mile run in six days at the age of 15 to raise money for charity. No excuses for skipping the Sunday fun run, Mike!
His TV appearances include winning celebrity editions of The Weakest Link, Mastermind, and Catchpoint, although he wasn't as fortunate on The Chase and Hit List.
Mike is perhaps best known for his unforgettable tumble into a swimming pool while interviewing swimmers live from Australia on BBC One in 2018—a moment that has since become iconic. Rest assured, we'll keep him away from any water hazards here at Car Fest.
A local resident of Overton, Mike often walks his dog around these fields when they're not bustling with CarFest activities.
